Hawaiian Wannabe: Musings of a Mainlander

Furlough Day #1

Posted by: hawaiianwannabe on: October 30, 2009

water1Friday, October 23rd. The three kids and I spent our first furlough day off together taking Jack to his routine dentist app’t followed by a trip to the local water park in Kapolei, Hawaii called Wet ‘N Wild. (We love Kapolei because it has a TARGET Store.) We have annual passes, and apparently, so do lots of other local families. I was surprised to see how many kids were accompanied by both their parents. I still don’t know how the average Hawaiian family can manage 17 lost days of supervised childcare.

Nonetheless, we had a great time, and ran into Jack’s two classmates towards the end of our day there. I must confess that I do love the time off with Jack 9, Rhys 7, and Jillian 5. I just wish it were under other circumstances.
